Larry Vasbinder - CPA - CEO/CFO/Co-Founder

Larry graduated with honors in 1989 from Baylor University with a BBA degree, and received his MBA from Baylor in 1990. He brings more than 18 years of leadership and financial experience to Second Round. Larry began his career in the tax department of KPMG Peat Marwick’s Austin office. Subsequently, he spent five years as Controller for Bradley Development, a real estate conglomerate based in Austin, Texas. Larry later went on to serve as CFO and COO of for an Austin based Financial Services company for nine years. During his tenure there, he grew the firm’s revenues from 1 million per annum to 50 million per annum culminating in the sale and recapitalization of the firm in 2006.

Joseph Duarte - COO/Co-Founder

Joseph attended Santa Clara University focusing on engineering and mathematics. He began his career with ExTerra Credit Recovery as the Vice President of Technology. During his time at ExTerra, Joseph completed a successful restructure of the operation and executed a sale of the business to a publicly traded recovery company. Joseph spent the following two years as a consultant to various collection and payday loan operations. Throughout that time, he developed strong relationships and an understanding of the payday loan industry. Prior to joining Second Round, Joseph held the position of VP of Operations and later became EVP of Strategy and Analysis for an Austin based Financial Services company. He was responsible for implementing debt purchasing models and portfolio management during his tenure. Joseph’s mix of technology and operations experience allows him to apply technical solutions to operation challenges.

Michael Melrose - Vice President of Recovery

Michael joins Second Round as a seasoned recovery manager with over seven years of hands-on analytical and managerial industry experience. He entered the collection industry in 2000, recovering lease deficiencies with OSI. He then moved on to apply his unique insights and creative strategies to help launch the industry's dominant payday loan servicing operation for a top five debt buyer, seller, and collector. Prior to joining Second Round, Michael was Collection Manager for Gila Corporation/Municipal Services Bureau - an industry pioneer in the municipal, federal, and governmental recovery. Michael has extensive management experience in servicing and strategy management of utility, auto deficiency, credit card, personal signature loan, private label credit card, commercial loan, and municipal debt.
